Installing Mods

CopperLauncher supports both Forge and Fabric mod loaders. You can install mods two ways: using the built-in mod downloader, or manually placing .jar files.

Method 1 — In-Launcher Mod Downloader

CopperLauncher has a built-in mod browser powered by Modrinth. You can search, browse, and install mods directly without leaving the launcher.

  1. From the launcher home screen, open your instance and tap the Mods tab.
  2. Tap the Search / Download button (magnifying glass or "Search for mods" bar).
  3. Type a mod name into the search bar. Results will appear with icons, names, and descriptions.
  4. Tap a mod to see details, then tap Install to download it directly into your instance.

The mod browser shows a compatibility badge (Modrinth or Forge icon) next to each mod. Make sure the mod matches your installed mod loader.

Managing Installed Mods

Each instance has its own mod list. To view and manage mods for an instance:

  1. Open the instance from the launcher home screen.
  2. Tap the Mods tab — you will see a list of all installed .jar files.
  3. Use the toggle switch next to each mod to enable or disable it without deleting it.
  4. Tap the X (delete) button to permanently remove a mod from the instance.

Disabling a mod does not delete it — it renames the file so Minecraft ignores it at launch. Re-enabling restores it.

Method 2 — Install a Mod Loader Manually

Forge

  1. From the launcher home screen, tap the version selector.
  2. Tap Forge at the top of the version list.
  3. Select the Minecraft version + Forge version you want.
  4. Tap Install and wait for it to complete.

Fabric

  1. Tap the version selector.
  2. Tap Fabric.
  3. Select your desired Minecraft + Fabric Loader version.
  4. Tap Install.

For Fabric, also install Fabric API — most mods require it.

Method 3 — Add Mods Manually

Once a mod loader is installed, you can place .jar files directly in the mods folder.

From the launcher, tap Folder icon → Game Directory, then open the mods folder. Download mods from Modrinth or CurseForge, then place the .jar file inside.

Only download mods from trusted sites. Unofficial mods may contain malware.

Troubleshooting

Game crashes after adding a mod? Make sure the mod is compatible with your Minecraft version and all dependencies are installed. Remove recently added mods one at a time to find the culprit.

Mods not showing in-game? Confirm the .jar is in the correct mods folder and you launched the correct Forge/Fabric profile.
